"The tour was great. Our guide, Kaitlyn, was fantastic, and with our group, we even made it to the narrow part of the canyon! Simply a great experience! I would give it a 10/10 and recommend it."

Kayak Notes
Is Kayaking Antelope Canyon Worth It?
How the water route differs from the famous slot tours, and who should paddle in.
Antelope Canyon doesn’t end at the famous slot tours. Its lower end runs into Lake Powell, where the canyon floor is flooded, and you can paddle up it between red sandstone walls until the water runs out and the slot continues on foot. It is a different experience from the Upper and Lower tours: slower, quieter, more physical, and wet.

Is it worth it?
For active travellers, very much. The tour on this page has 4.9 out of 5 from more than 600 reviews, and it costs $101 per person for about four hours of paddling and hiking, with the kayak, paddle, life jacket and a dry bag included. (Checked in October 2026.) It suits beginners who are reasonably fit; children under 5 can’t join.
It isn’t a replacement for the classic slot tours. The water route doesn’t take you through the sections of Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon you see in photos. Many visitors do both: a slot tour in the morning, the lake in the afternoon, or the other way round.
Costs and timing to plan for
- Park entry: $30, not included. Entry to the Lake Powell area is extra on all the kayak tours here, and waived if you hold a National Park pass.
- Arrive 30 minutes early at the Antelope Point Launch Ramp. Transport there is not included.
- Arizona time. The operator runs on Arizona (Phoenix) time and warns that phones near the lake can pick up Utah towers, which are an hour different in summer. Set your phone to Phoenix time.
- Bring water, sunscreen, a hat and a towel; none are included. Expect to get wet.

When to go
The warmest months, roughly June to October, are best for swimming, and one of the operators includes swimming from June to October. The summer monsoon, from mid-June to the end of September, can bring storms and flash floods, and tours may be postponed; our weather guide explains what happens then. Spring and autumn are calmer and cooler on the water.

What Kayakers Say
"Great trip Ian was great guide. For the $ wish I knew we could have rented kayaks from marina. But then we would not have the excellent guide."
"Great time even though it rained some of the time the canyon was beautiful! It was a little more strenuous than expected based on the distance we had to paddle but we would still recommend this kayaking trip."
"We enjoyed it souch! even in a rainy day with some drizzles it was super fun. our guide was Ben and he was telling us a lot about the place and about the life in Page as a local that was born and raised in this place. we saw many things and got to hike deep into the canyon to beautiful areas. super recommended!"
"Our kayak experience was amazing Kaitlyn (I think). She was amazing. She gave us a lot of history feedback about Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon. The weather expectations were that there were going to be some rain. When we arrived, it was sunny and warm. By the time we were kayaking back at around 1:30pm, it started to rain. We thought it was an amazing experience. Then thunder came and waves got so much stronger to the point that we started going against current. They had to come and rescue us lol it was scary but funny at the end for us being that we’re Californians and weren’t used to this 😂 I think that made it memorable for my kids and the adults. Kaitlyn made sure we were all safe and acted quickly. Loved her! 100% recommend this experience!!"
"We had an incredibly great day today. Ben was a great and very knowledgeable guide (he alone deserved 5 stars). The tour itself is, of course, breathtaking and an absolute must if you're spending a few hours in Page! Thank you, Ben!"
"We had an amazing time on the Antelope Canyon kayaking and hiking tour! Ben was a fantastic guide - laid-back, helpful, and made the whole experience so enjoyable. The kayaking was so much fun, and hiking into the canyon was absolutely gorgeous. The view was breathtaking, and the entire experience was a highlight of our trip. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon."
"We had such an amazing time. My 8 year old and 14 year old absolutely loved it! It was perfect! So much to see, perfect pace, tons of great information, and overall wonderful time."

Antelope Canyon by Kayak: Questions Before You Book
Answers checked in October 2026.
Yes. The lower end of Antelope Canyon runs into Lake Powell, so you can paddle up the flooded canyon from the Antelope Point area, then continue on foot where the water ends. Guided kayak and hike tours take about four hours.
Yes, experienced paddlers can rent a kayak and paddle in on their own; there are kayak rentals at Lake Powell near Antelope Point. A guided tour adds a guide who knows the route, the landing spot and the conditions, plus the gear, which is why most first-time visitors book one.
For active travellers, yes: it is quieter and more adventurous than the slot tours, and the tour on this page is rated 4.9 out of 5 from more than 600 reviews. It does not replace Upper or Lower Antelope Canyon, which are different sections of the canyon, so many visitors do one of each.
The tour on this page costs $101 per person, including the kayak, paddle, life jacket and a dry bag. Entry to the Lake Powell area, $30, is extra and waived with a National Park pass. Transport to the launch ramp, food and water are not included (October 2026).
No. The tour suits beginners as well as experienced paddlers, as long as you are reasonably fit; four hours of paddling and walking in the sun is real effort. Children under 5 cannot join.
Water, sunscreen, a sun hat, a towel and a snack, none of which are included, plus clothes and shoes that can get wet. Keep your phone in the dry bag provided.
Arizona time, the same as Phoenix all year. Phones near Lake Powell can pick up Utah cell towers, which are an hour different in summer, so set your phone to Phoenix time and arrive at the launch ramp 30 minutes before the start.
Storms can postpone tours, especially in the monsoon season from mid-June to the end of September, when flash floods are a risk in the canyon. You can cancel this tour for a full refund up to 24 hours before.
