"Our guide, Amory, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the Valleys, but also the culture of the area. We went to so many special places it was hard to keep them all straight. It was truly an awe inspiring day in the Monument and Mystery Valleys in Navaho Country. Ask for Amory to guide you too!"

How a Monument Valley Day from Page Works
Drive over, meet your Navajo guide in the valley, and mind the clock: the valley runs an hour ahead of Page in summer.
Drive from Page
Monument Valley is about 120 miles from Page, roughly two hours by road through Kayenta. The tours on this page start in the valley, so you drive yourself.
Set your clock to Utah time
The valley tours run on Utah time, one hour ahead of Arizona from March 8 to November 1, 2026. Leave Page an hour earlier than the booking time suggests.
Pay the park entry
Entry to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is $10 per person, paid separately; national park passes are not accepted. In summer the gate line can take 25 minutes.
Ride with a Navajo guide
Open-air trucks in warm weather, enclosed vans in winter, small groups of up to 12. The guide takes you into backcountry you cannot drive yourself.

Planning Notes
Monument Valley as an Add-On from Page
How far it is, which tour fits around Antelope Canyon, and the costs the listings leave out.
Monument Valley is about 120 miles from Page, roughly two hours by road through Kayenta, so it works as a day out from the same base you use for Antelope Canyon. The bookable tours start in the valley itself: you drive there, pay the park entry, and a Navajo guide takes you round in an open-air truck. That is the part you cannot do on your own, because the backcountry arches and the hogan visits are off the public loop and closed to private cars.
Which tour fits a day from Page
Two hours each way is four hours on the road, so the length of the tour decides the day.
Pick the one that fits your drive:
Monument Valley and Mystery Valley
The whole valley plus Mystery Valley's ruins. Best if you stay the night nearby.
Check dates →Backcountry Jeep Tour
The most booked tour in the valley. Leaves time for the drive back to Page.
See this tour →Sunset Tour
The Mittens at golden hour. Plan a night in the valley or Kayenta afterwards.
See this tour →Prices, ratings and review counts from our October 2026 data check. They are per person, and none of these three includes the $10 park entry.
The full day is the one to book if you can sleep near the valley. It runs about seven hours with Monument Valley Tribal Tours, covers the Three Sisters, John Ford Point, the Totem Pole and the Mittens, then crosses to Mystery Valley for the Ancestral Puebloan ruins. Squeezed between two two-hour drives it makes an eleven-hour day, which is a lot after an early canyon tour.
For a there-and-back day, the Backcountry Jeep Tour at $68 is the sensible size: two and a half hours, the restricted backcountry included, and a traditional song from your guide along the way. Dineh Bekeyah Tours runs a similar Scenic 2.5-Hour Guided Tour for $70, rated 4.9 from 819 reviews, with pickup from the loading area outside The View Hotel and music at the Big Hogan arch.
The time-zone trap
This catches people every summer. Antelope Canyon tours run on Arizona time, which does not change in summer. The Monument Valley tours on this page run on Utah time, which does. From March 8 to November 1, 2026, the valley is one hour ahead of Page, and the operators ask visitors coming from Arizona to leave an hour earlier than they think. A 2 pm tour in the valley is 1 pm in Page.
The same hour matters if you self-drive. The park’s last entry to the Valley Drive is 2:30 pm from October to January and 4:30 pm from May to September, on valley time.
The costs the listings leave out
- Park entry: $10 per person. Navajo Nation Parks charges it at the gate, per person rather than per car, and the America the Beautiful pass is not accepted. None of the tours above includes it. (Checked in October 2026.)
- Tips. Guides’ tips are not included.
- Food. Lunch is not included on the full day, so bring something or eat at The View Hotel’s restaurant by the visitor center first.
- Fuel. Kayenta, 25 miles south of the valley, is the last big town for fuel on the way in.
Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley in one day
It can be done if you start early. Take a morning Lower Antelope Canyon tour in Page on Arizona time, leave by late morning, and book an afternoon or sunset valley tour, remembering the extra hour in summer. Antelope Canyon tours book up first in peak season, so secure that slot before you choose the valley time. If you want Horseshoe Bend as well, put it at the start or end of the day in Page: it is a short walk from the parking lot. For the canyon itself, the rules guide covers what you can bring, and the Navajo tour operators page explains who runs which canyon.

What Monument Valley Visitors Say
"A wonderful tour. Our guide Larry was fantastic – we couldn't have asked for anything better. He told us the history of Monument Valley in an engaging and exciting way, and it was very easy to understand. The visit to Mystery Valley was an unexpected highlight. Congratulations to Larry again!!!"
"Informative and very professional by a knowledgeable driver/guide."
"We enjoyed Tim's stories, as well as the care he took to show us new places in Monument Valley compared to what we had done the day before"
"A dive into the lands of the Navajo. An intense and comprehensive hike to discover Monument Valley and Mystery Valley. A bit tiring but worth it!"
"Our guide, Sandrea, was knowledgeable and personable and very in tune with her Navajo culture. Monument Valley and the backcountry tour were both breathtaking scenery coupled with her passion for the earth. It would have been helpful if the information in the tour had included more detail about appropriate attire as it was really windy and cold."
"Had a great time with Sandrea. She was super knowledgeable and a proud Navajo, sharing history and traditions with us."
"Better guide. More friendly. More comfortable transportation"

Monument Valley from Page: Questions Before You Book
Answers checked in October 2026.
Yes, with an early start. Take a morning Lower Antelope Canyon tour in Page, drive about two hours east, and join an afternoon or sunset valley tour such as the 3-hour Sunset Tour ($78, October 2026). From March to early November the valley tours run an hour ahead of Page, so allow for the lost hour.
About 120 miles, roughly two hours by road through Kayenta. The tours on this page start in the valley, so you drive yourself or stay nearby; none of them picks up in Page.
Yes. Most visitors on a 2.5 or 3-hour tour drive back to Page the same evening. After the seven-hour Monument Valley and Mystery Valley tour the round trip makes an eleven-hour day, so a night in Kayenta or the valley is the easier plan.
Entry to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is $10 per person in 2026, paid at the gate, and federal park passes are not accepted. Guided tours cost extra: from $68 for the 2.5-hour Backcountry Jeep Tour to $147 for the full day, entry not included (October 2026).
You can drive the 17-mile Valley Drive yourself after paying the entry fee, on a rough, sandy dirt road. The backcountry beyond it, including the arches and hogan visits, is open only with a Navajo guide, which is what a tour such as the Scenic 2.5-Hour Guided Tour ($70) adds.
Two to three hours covers the Valley Drive or a short guided tour. A full day lets you add Mystery Valley's ruins, and a sunset tour adds the best light on the Mittens. Add four hours of driving if you come from Page and go back.
The road runs across the Navajo Nation on AZ-98 and US-160 to Kayenta, then north on US-163. Kayenta is the main stop for fuel and food, about 25 miles before the valley. Most visitors keep the stops short and spend the time in the valley.
The tours on this page run on Utah time (Mountain Daylight Time in summer), one hour ahead of Arizona from March 8 to November 1, 2026. Antelope Canyon tours in Page run on Arizona time. Check both times before you set off.
Yes. Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is open to visitors who pay the entry fee, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and the roads can close in bad weather. Drones are banned across the Navajo Nation.
For a there-and-back day, a 2.5-hour tour such as the Backcountry Jeep Tour (4.8 from 2,479 reviews). If you stay the night, the full day with Mystery Valley (4.9 from 133 reviews) shows the most.
